Back in the Dark Ages land surveyors had to phone their local agencies to find out what, if any, information was to be found about survey monuments.  Even worse, there was not even a map to help them locate useful survey marks.   The City of Bellingham has solved these problems with a new survey monument lookup tool.

A monument feature class and four related tables provide access to basic structure information, historic visit records, coordinate data, and associated documents such as photos, sketches and recorded surveys and subdivisions. We deliver the information in a user-friendly format using a Geocortex application integrated with our document management system, OnBase.  If you think all of this is good news, just wait until you find out that all of this data is available live on mobile devices as well as desktop.  Surveyors can now get what they need while out in the field!
